How long is 968 feet?
The physical scale of 968 feet becomes clearer when it is compared with recognizable things whose dimensions have been published.
968-Foot Distance Comparisons
Compared with the diameter of a full-size vinyl record, 968 feet is about 968 times that measurement.
The familiar long-playing record format uses a disc measuring approximately 12 inches across its diameter. The source measurement converts to 1 foot, so the proportional comparison with 968 feet is 968 of those measurements.

968 feet is about 24.2 times the standard 40-foot shipping container.
A standard long intermodal freight container measures 40 feet externally and is commonly seen on cargo ships, trains, and tractor-trailers. Its published measurement is 40 feet; the comparison comes from placing that figure against 968 feet.
968 feet is about 74% of the one lap of a standard outdoor running track.
A standard outdoor athletics track measures 400 metres around lane one, equal to approximately 437.4 yards. Its published measurement is 1,312.33 feet; the comparison comes from placing that figure against 968 feet.

Picture the maximum length of a blue whale: 968 feet is about 9.7 times its measured length.
NOAA describes blue whales as reaching roughly 100 feet in length, making them the largest animals known to have lived on Earth. Using its published size of 100 feet, dividing 968 by that reference gives 9.7 of those measurements.

Compared with the solar-array span of the International Space Station, 968 feet is about 4.1 times that measurement.
With its solar arrays extended, the International Space Station spans approximately 239 feet across its width. The source measurement converts to 239 feet, so the proportional comparison with 968 feet is 4.1 of those measurements.

For scale, 968 feet spans about 1.5 times the height of the Gateway Arch.
St. Louis's stainless-steel Gateway Arch stands 630 feet high and spans the same distance between its outer legs at ground level. The source measurement converts to 630 feet, so the proportional comparison with 968 feet is 1.5 of those measurements.

Compared with the minimum international soccer-field width, 968 feet is about 4.6 times that measurement.
For international matches, the Laws of the Game require a field width of at least 64 metres. The source measurement converts to 209.98 feet, so the proportional comparison with 968 feet is 4.6 of those measurements.
968 feet is approximately 295 meters.
Using the exact conversion that 1 foot equals exactly 0.3048 meters, the unrounded result is 295.046 meters.
Reference measurements are rounded where appropriate, and naturally variable objects are described as approximate, typical, or maximum sizes.
